VOLVI - KORONIA
The lakes Volvi and Koronia located a few miles north-east of Thessaloniki. The fertile region of lakes was an incentive factor for the development of social life in prehistoric times. Around the lakes has been discovered a settlements of the Neolithic Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age. Rich is the flora and fauna of the lakes. The wetland of lakes consists mainly of plefstofyta, venthofyta, reeds and rushes. Perimeter of the lakes grows trees, willows, poplars, alders and climbing plants. The lakes and especially Volvi, were once rich fishing grounds. The wetland of lakes protected by a series of international treaties and regulatory actions that determine the status of development.
Lagada’s bathrooms are located 19 km north-east of Thessaloniki, near the town of Langadas, near the homonymous lake and act as a regulated source of healing since ancient times.
