VOLVI - KORONIA

The lakes Volvi and Koronia located a few miles north-east of Thessaloniki. The fertile region of lakes was an incentive factor for the development of social life in prehistoric times. Around the lakes has been discovered a settlements of the Neolithic Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age. Rich is the flora and fauna of the lakes. The wetland of lakes consists mainly of plefstofyta, venthofyta, reeds and rushes. Perimeter of the lakes grows trees, willows, poplars, alders and climbing plants. The lakes and especially Volvi, were once rich fishing grounds. The wetland of lakes protected by a series of international treaties and regulatory actions that determine the status of development.

BATHS LAGKADA

Lagada’s bathrooms are located 19 km north-east of Thessaloniki, near the town of Langadas, near the homonymous lake and act as a regulated source of healing since ancient times. The are suitable for rheumatism and gynecological diseases. Today the spa town of Langadas is at the old Byzantine region and has baths, whirlpool, sand bath, physiotherapy, surgery.

APOLLONIA

On the banks of Volvi’s lake are the sources of Nea Apollonia which water has many therapeutic applications because of its high temperature and high levels of free sulfide (especially rheumatic and arthritic diseases, skin diseases, etc.).
